The cold front will first enter the northeastern area tonight before moving further south, bringing medium and heavy rains along with it, the Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said on Saturday. This rainy weather will last for two-three in the large region stretching from Quang Ninh to Ninh Thuan provinces, with rainfall averages ranging from 100 mm to 200 mm, the center warned. Specifically, showers and thunderstorms will scatter across northern provinces beginning this evening, while rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds will hit central provinces from Sunday afternoon. From tomorrow afternoon, the northern area of the East Vietnam Sea, including the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, will face rough weather and experience northeasterly winds as strong as 49 kph, with gusts of up to 74 kph. Showers and thunderstorms will also affect this area. Meanwhile, rainstorms will occur in the Gulf of Tonkin, which will have rough seas and gusts of 50-61 kph. The center also warned that many rivers in the region from Thanh Hoa to Ninh Thuan in central Vietnam, and in the Central Highlands provinces, are rising, and may flood many areas.
