Official beats superior over fake diploma revocation

Friday, August 24, 2012, 12:45 GMT+7

In the wake of his fake diploma being revoked, an official at Yok Don National Park in Dak Lak Province punched his superior in the face so violently that he broke the man’s cheekbone.

The attacker was Nguyen Huu Vu, deputy director of the tourism center under the park, and the victim was Hoang Van Xuan, the center’s manager, Tran Van Thanh, acting director of the park, told Tuoi Tre. At noon on August 22, Vu went to meet Xuan to argue against the revocation of a diploma Vu had received from the Forestry High School No. 2 (now the Vietnam Forestry University No. 2). During their argument, Vu suddenly beat Xuan, Thanh said. In 2010 concerned agencies discovered that Vu had used a fake junior high school diploma to take an entrance exam at the high school, according to Thanh. The national park then removed Vu from all of his positions in the park’s Party Committee but did not dismiss him as a deputy director of the center. Recently, the park received a notice from the university requesting that the diploma Vu had received be revoked.
