Torrential rain lasting for hours led to flooding on a segment of the Phan Thiet-Dau Giay Expressway in Binh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam, impeding movement along the route in early Saturday morning.
Flooding started overruning the section in Ham Tam District, Binh Thuan Province on both sides at around 3:00 am on the day, according to road management authorities.
The flooded segment stretches 100 meters in length, with the deepest point reaching one meter.

Vehicles were able to slowly navigate through one side of the road while others were stranded due to the high water levels on the other side, with one truck swept to the edge of the road.
Police officers had to reroute traffic en route from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet City in Binh Thuan through National Highway 55 to National Highway 1 to avoid further congestion.
At 7:00 am, the waterlogging subsided, and traffic returned to its usual conditions.
The 99-kilometer Phan Thiet-Dau Giay Expressway was opened to traffic at the end of April.
The six-lane route starts from an intersection with the Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet Expressway running through Ham Thuan Nam District in Binh Thuan Province and ends at an intersection with the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway passing through Thong Nhat District in Dong Nai Province.
