Israel launches startup competition for women; Vietnamese encouraged to join

Wednesday, May 11, 2016, 10:49 GMT+7

An international startup contest organized by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now open to applications by Vietnamese women.

This year, Start Tel Aviv welcomes only female contestants with the aim of empowering the role of women in society and in the startup community.

The contest will bring together startups from 30 different countries including Vietnam, Norway, the UK, Germany, Spain, Finland, Italy, South Korea, India, Japan, and Russia.

Female contestants aged between 25 and 35 who work in the web, mobile, and information and communications technology sectors are encouraged to submit their applications by May 25.

Participants are responsible for reserving their intellectual property rights to the submitted products.

Only one female founding member can submit to the Start Tel Aviv competition and that founder will be subject to the contest’s conditions.

The prize will be given solely to the founding member who entered the competition.

The winning female entrepreneur will win a trip to Israel from September 25 to 29 with all costs, including travel and accommodation, paid for by the organizers.

The five-day tour will provide participants with an insight into the startup ecosystem in Tel Aviv, the business capital of Israel.

It has also become a leading innovation hub with hundreds of tech startups.

The city was named Europe’s leading tech hub by The Wall Street Journal, ranked by Startup Genome as the 2nd best place in the world to open a startup, according to the contest’s website.
