-- Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia have confirmed a female suspect carrying a Vietnamese passport allegedly involved in the killing of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, earlier this month, is a Vietnamese national, after seeing her on Saturday, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said on its website.

-- More than a dozen members of the endangered red-headed cranes have been spotted at a wildlife sanctuary located in Giang Thanh District in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang over the past few days, its director said on Saturday.

-- The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has announced an action plan to prevent the spread of the deadly H7N9 avian influenza virus strain from its neighbor China though the Southeast Asian nation had yet to record any infection as of February 20.

-- Police in Mong Cai City in the northern province of Quang Ninh on Saturday arrested a 24-year-old suspect who had been specially wanted by their counterparts in north-central Thanh Hoa Province for repeatedly trafficking women to China.

-- Police in Vinh Bao District in the northern city of Hai Phong apprehended 20 people following a Saturday swoop on an illegal cockfighting field.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has made adjustments to sidewalk anti-motorbike barriers on several downtown streets following a debate that their installation may pose an obstacle to pedestrians and physically challenged people, particularly the visually impaired.
