-- Senior officials from the 10 ASEAN member countries met in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday to outline the agenda and documents to be adopted for the ongoing 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will visit Malaysia from August 7 to 8 at the invitation of his Malaysian counterpart, and will be in Singapore to attend the 50th anniversary of its founding on August 9.

Society

-- Rains and floods continued wreaking havoc on northern Vietnam over the weekend, killing four and injuring seven others in Dien Bien, Lai Chau and Son La Provinces, the Office of the National Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention and Control reported Sunday.

-- Nguyen Van Thien, 17, who is suspected of raping and killing a 13-year-old girl in a Ho Chi Minh City hotel on July 22, was arrested in his home province of Quang Binh, located in central Vietnam, on Sunday after having been on the run for ten days.

-- A 27-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, believed to be his girlfriend, were found dead inside a locked house in the central province of Nghe An on Sunday, in what appears to be a suicide, according to autopsy results.

-- Police are hunting for the suspect that shot dead two people at a night club on Phu Quoc Island, a famed attraction off the southern Vietnamese province of Kien Giang, on Saturday night.

-- The director board of the Military Radio and Television Center has been admonished, while its program producers have been “strictly sanctioned,” for playing a Chinese song during the “Aspiration for Reunion” exchange event in Hanoi on July 27.

Business

-- Vietnam, with a population of 90 million, is now home to 128 million mobile phone subscribers, the Mobile Marketing Association revealed at the MMA Forum 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.

-- Outstanding taxes owed by Vietnamese businesses have so far totaled VND74 trillion (US$3.31 billion), double the allowed limit, according to the Ministry of Finance.

-- German Vietnamese Nguyen Trong Hieu was announced winner of the sixth season of the singing competition show "Vietnam Idol" on Sunday.
