Have a nice Sunday!

Society

-- The World Bank (WB) in Vietnam announced on Saturday that WB had approved a credit package of US$315 million for the country, including $236 million earmarked for sustainable environment projects in coastal provinces.

-- The resting place of Vietnamese legendary general Vo Nguyen Giap in Quang Trach District in the north-central province of Quang Binh has received more than 2,000 visitors per day over the past few days, with the number expected to surge on Sunday, the anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory over French colonial forces (May 7).

-- The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital carrying nine medical experts landed in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on Thursday to commence its two-week program to offer free surgery and health checks to poor patients next Monday.

-- Three months after the launch of a test run, the first-ever Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Hanoi, with its effectiveness doubted even before launch, has seen a limited number of passengers, especially during off-peak hours.

-- Sand miners have defied bans and tightened control by local administrations to step up their illegal activity along the banks of the Tien (Front) and Hau (Back) Rivers in Vietnam's Mekong Delta region to tap on the surging sand prices in recent times.

Business

-- Many real estate and insurance firms have drawn up contracts with tricky terms that put their unsuspecting clients at a serious disadvantage.

-- Ho An Phong, director of Quang Binh Department of Tourism, has reported a revival in the province’s sea tourism sector in recent months after the locality, as well as three other central provinces, suffered hefty losses during 2016 due to the mass fish deaths caused by the local steel plant of Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Group.

-- An official has revealed the outlying district of Can Gio in Ho Chi Minh City welcomed over one million visits during 2016, a 53.5-percent rise against the same period in 2015. New tours and products are expected to bring the locality a revenue of VND500 billion (US$ 21.7 million) this year.

Lifestyle

-- A summer street festival is running in the central city of Da Nang on Friday and Saturday nights until June 23.
