An exhibit, “Hoi An - Then and Now”, which is running at UNESCO-recognized Hoi An town in central Quang Nam province until Feb 7, features more than 100 photos of the town spanning from the 1950s to now.

The photos, being displayed at Hoi An Museum, capture the town’s stunning landscape, relics and hospitable people during all these years.

The rare photos mostly come from organizations’ and individuals’ collections.

In 1999, the Hoi An ancient town was recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO for being a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port from the 15th to 19th century and for being home to buildings with a unique blend of local and foreign influences.

Since then, the city has been voted one of the top tourist destinations in the world by several tourism magazines. It was voted the world’s best tourism city by UK tourism magazine Wanderlust in Jan 2013. The city also ranked second in the Top 10 Asian Cities list by prestigious American tourism magazine Condé Nast Traveler in Oct 2013, and was chosen for the 2013 Asian Townscape Award, collectively given away by the UN-Habitat Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and the Asian Townscape Design Society.
