Dutch, Aussie designers to showcase collections at Ho Chi Minh City show

Dutch, Aussie designers to showcase collections at Ho Chi Minh City show

Two famous fashion designers from Australia and the Netherlands will feature their latest collections in a show to be held next Tuesday in Ho Chi Minh City.

The “Lynk Fashion Show 2014,” which will run at the Reunification Palace at 135 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street in District 1, will boast 40 summer-spring designs created by Australian designer Toni Maticevski and his Dutch counterpart Peet Dullaert.

Dullaert mainly adopts silk and cotton with black and white parallel stripes for his designs to accentuate the harmony between nostalgia and modernity in the fashion world.

Meanwhile, Maticevski’s clever use of neutral colors and folds helps obscure flaws on people wearing his designs.

The show’s stage meets the demanding criteria of Paris Fashion Week shows, and all 30 models have been handpicked by the two designers.

The show’s organizer, Ly Nha Ky, who is a successful actress and businesswoman and served as Vietnam’s Tourism Ambassador last year, shared that the event is her effort to promote her country’s image and fashion industry to the world.

She added that “Lynk Fashion Show 2014" is a step toward the realization of her dream of organizing international-scale events to draw world-famous designers and global media attention.

VnExpress newswire reported that several foreign celebrities, including Mouna Ayoub – a world-renowned French socialite and billionaire of Lebanese origin – will attend the event.

In 2012 Peet Dullaert, 25, won Frans Molenaar Prijs – a Dutch fashion award – with a collection inspired by his grandmother’s hairpin.

Toni Maticevski grew up and is developing his fashion brand in Australia, though he had plenty of business opportunities in the U.S. after taking home the Fashion Group International Award.

The award is given annually by the Fashion Group International – a global, non-profit, professional organization with 5,000 members in the fashion industry including apparel, accessories, beauty and home, according to its Linkedin account.
