Sixteen students from the Vietnam National University-Hanoi will attend the 2014 Asian Students Environment Platform to be held in China from August 4 to 11.
The Vietnamese students together with their peers from Japan, Korea, China and Malaysia will participate in activities under the theme of water and humans.
They will attend field trips to the swamps of Tianjin City as well as the grasslands and deserts of the Inner Mongolia area.
The students will also visit a panda center and a water ecosystem reserve in Chengdu City. Finally, they will deliver presentations in Beijing to end the platform.
Held annually since 2012 by the Japan–based AEON Environmental Foundation, the platform aims at educating those involved in environmental activities.
The first forum was attended by a total of 60 students who had discussions centered on environmental protection, coexistence and biodiversity, rooted in the theme “The Environment from a Cultural Perspective.”
The organizers also hope to increase the number of participating countries each year, so that in 10 years the forum will be hosting attendees from throughout East Asia including all ASEAN nations.
