A 68-year-old male Japanese national was found dead on Tuesday at a hotel in Ho Chi Minh City's District 7 after he had stayed there with an unidentified local girl.
The victim was identified as Kobayashi Toshiaki who had lived in Vietnam for ten years and ran a business exporting handicrafts and fine art products in district 7.
Initial information has found that on the afternoon of November 13, Kobayashi and a young girl rented a room at the Henry Hotel in Tan Phong Ward. About one hour later, the girl left the hotel.
That evening the hotel staff knocked on the room’s door since no one had checked out. Suspicious, the employees opened the door with an extra key and found the Japanese dead.
Police found the victim’s personal property including a cell phone.
Police are investigating and will carry out an autopsy to identify the cause of his death.
