Police in southern Binh Duong province have detained a local woman who stripped another woman naked on the street out of jealousy a week ago. Le Thi Tuyet, 43, of the province’s Thu Dau Mot town, was arrested yesterday for investigation under the charge of “humiliating others,” police said. According to the case file, Tuyet, with the aid of her 16-year-old son Le Dinh Quy, assaulted and undressed N.T.B., 41, a neighbor, at 7 am on April 16 near B’s home after B left home to go to work on a motorbike. Tuyet and her son stopped the vehicle and insulted B, alleging that B had affairs with Tuyet’s husband and lured him to mortgage the couple’s house ownership certificate. Tuyet scooped sand on the street with her hands and threw the sand into B’s face. Quy then grasped the victim’s hair and beat her on the face while Tuyet tore the victim’s short and then stripped her naked, as shown in a clip videotaped by a man. The clip was posted and spread on the Internet a few days later and, as a result, B, a sewing worker, decided to quit her job at her company on Monday due to shame. The police questioned Tuyet and Quy and took testimony from the victim. Tuyet admitted to police that she stripped B naked as revenge for B’s affairs with Tuyet’s husband. Meanwhile, B, a single mother of three, told police that she and Tuyet’s husband have no relation beyond neighborly ties. B said Tuyet had previously assaulted her four times out of jealousy and she had reported to police for help but no intervention was made until this latest attack. B demands that police strictly punish Tuyet for her offenses. In talking with Tuoi Tre about the case, the Thu Dau Mot town police said they are continuing their investigation and Tuyet may be prosecuted for “humiliating others.” As for Quy, since he is an underage, the police have not considered imposing criminal treatment on him.
