Can Tho police to fine youths releasing stripping clip

Can Tho police to fine youths releasing stripping clip

Sunday, December 22, 2013, 16:47 GMT+7

Cai Rang district police in Can Tho City said on Dec 17 that they will fine a group of local youths who made and released on the Internet a video clip in which a girl strips almost naked while walking on the street.

Seven youngsters recently made the music clip “Anh khong doi qua phien ban Can Tho” (I don’t want my gifts back – the Can Tho version), in which a young sexy girl takes off her accessories one by one before stripping almost naked and wearing only a pair of underwear while walking on the street. Two young men follow her and one of them picks up all the things the girl removes from her body and throws away, before some others rob him of the things.

Around seven similar clips have been made in other provinces including Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Ba Ria Vung Tau and Khanh Hoa by other groups and went viral on the Internet. A junior version in Buon Ma Thuot in which a little girl is also stripping off her clothes on the street was also released.

The music clips are inspired after a girl in Hanoi in mid Nov 2013 post on her Facebook a clip capturing a man sent by her rich ex-boyfriend to her house to make inventories of all the gifts which he gave her during their intimate time. The man demands that she gives them all back. The clip caused quite a stir on the Internet, with criticisms targeted at the ex-boyfriend for his meanness.

Lieutenant-colonel Nguyen Van Cao, from Cai Rang district police, said that most of the seven youths, four males and three females, who made the Can Tho music clip, are students from local junior and senior high schools and universities. N. T. H, the group leader, did the “scripting” and “directing” and N. T. T. D, 16, who works as a DJ at a local bar, plays the stripping girl. They all said that they just wanted to make and post the clip on their Facebook for fun and were unaware that the act is a violation of the law.

Lieutenant-colonel Cao added that the youths will be fined for disrupting a civilized lifestyle and possession of banned dangerous toys, as they had a model gun with them while making the clip.

The police will also notify the youths’ families and local officials of their violations to stop them from making similar offences in the future.

At noon on Dec 13, the local police received a phone call from locals reporting that a group of youths were filming on 8B street in the Hung Phu residential area, with the girl only having a pair of underwear on her. The group was then taken to the police station for questioning.

Recently, several youths, especially girls, have filmed themselves in scanty clothes and titillating positions before posting the clips on the Internet to attract public attention. One example is Ba Tung (Ms Tung), real name Le Thi Huyen Anh, who posted breast-flaunting dancing clips and gave outrageous statements on her Facebook. She gained a large number of likes but was also a target for criticism. She was also banned from performing nationwide for a certain period of time.
