Sony to adapt expat Vietnamese artist’s comic series into feature film

Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired the feature film rights to an upcoming comic book series, jointly created by a New York Times bestselling author and an expat Vietnamese bestselling comic artist. The Japanese film making giant has obtained the right to adapt a comic book series titled “Descender” into a feature film, The Thao va Van Hoa, an affiliate of the Vietnam News Agency, reported Monday.

The series is the brainchild of New York Times bestselling author Jeff Lemire and the U.S. newspaper’s bestselling comic artist Dustin Nguyen, who is of Vietnamese origin.
