Friday, February 13, 2015, 18:18 GMT+7

Measles has spread to 25 provinces and cities in Vietnam so far this year, with 35 children having tested positive for the measles virus and nearly 100 suspected infection cases, health authorities have announced.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Luong Ngoc Khue, head of the Medical Examination and Treatment Department under the Ministry of Health.

Khue requested that all health facilities nationwide strengthen detection and treatment of measles patients timely and properly to curb the spread of the disease.

Experienced nurses should be assigned to examination teams at all clinics to pick out suspected measles patients so that further examinations and tests for the measles virus can be performed on them as soon as possible, Khue said.
