The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Vietnam is calling for applications for its 2015 AmCham Scholarship program for students enrolled in 12 universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

The annual AmCham Scholarship program is part of the AmCham’s efforts to improve the business environment in Vietnam by helping build quality human resources for its member companies and aiding students to acquire essential professional working skills.

This year, AmCham Vietnam is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the AmCham Scholarship and going to award 50 scholarships valued at VND10 million (US$446.43) each and 30 grants valued at VND4 million ($178.57) each.

Aside from the financial support, AmCham scholars will also have the chance to be involved in certain AmCham activities, to join the AmCham Scholars Alumni/ae (ASA) Club, and to be recognized by nearly 500 AmCham companies as well as to be provided with credits for job application purposes after graduation and other related purposes (e.g. summer jobs, internships, further scholarships, etc.).

All AmCham Scholarship candidates are required to be Vietnamese undergraduates in their third year and above of the 2015-16 academic year from 12 universities in the city, including seven member universities of the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City (University of Technology, University of Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Economics and Law, University of Information Technology, International University, School of Medicine), Foreign Trade University, Banking University, Hoa Sen University, University of Law, and University of Technical Education.

For the School of Medicine, students should be in their fifth year and above.

They are expected to have good academic performance, fluent communication in English, and active participation in extracurricular activities after an extensive, three-month long assessment process.

Further information on the scholarship program’s online application can be found at http://www.amchamvietnam.com/30447591/.

From the beginning in 2001, with 10 scholarships and 3 university partners, till now, the AmCham has presented a total of 405 scholarships and 223 honorable mention awards to students from 11 universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

In recent years, realizing high-tech companies’ need for technical resources, the AmCham Scholarship program has encouraged participation from technical students by holding annually two Tech Information Sessions, which were organized on May 20 this year at the University of Science and International University.
