Pho, bun cha, com tam, and bun bo are four of Vietnam’s signature dishes listed on the menu of Google’s cafeteria in the U.S.

When it comes to technology, Google is among the most popular names.

The company is also referred to as an ideal place for work, and even for lunch.

In the company’s canteen, pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup) andbun cha (rice vermicelli served with grilled pork meatballs and vegetables) are among the most favorite dishes.

“Neighboring countries influenced the evolution of Vietnamese cuisine, including China, Thailand and Cambodia. Similarities within these cuisines are apparent, but the Vietnamese cuisine retains distinct characteristics that distinguish it from its neighbors’,” a sign in the Internet giant’s canteen reads.

Nguyen Minh Tu, 21, who has just finished his internship at Google's headquarters in California, said the familiar meals made a newcomer like him feel like he was in his own homeland.

Google's Mountain View headquarters, dubbed the Googleplex, boasts 36 cafeterias for employees to dine, each with its own theme and menu.

Options range from regional American cuisine to Vietnamese food, and other international dishes.

The menu is diverse, offering healthy, fresh, and tasty meals. Dishes are changed randomly and keep a traditional flavor so that people from different nations can enjoy.

Google provides three free meals a day for its employees.

Besides the Vietnamese dishes, the Vietnamese language has been inscribed on signs in the company’s dining rooms and restrooms, along with other popular languages such as English, Chinese, or Spanish.

Bun bo (spicy beef noodles) originates in the central Vietnamese city of Hue, while com tam is made from rice with fractured rice grains.

Com tam is usually served in southern Vietnam with grilled pork (either ribs or shredded meat) plus bi (thinly minced pork mixed with cooked and finely sliced pig skin) and broken rice.
