People in Vietnam will be given seven days off during next year’s Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved the proposal by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on the number of days off during Tet holiday for 2017.
The break is expected to run from January 26 to February 1.
The topic was included in a recent document the labor ministry submitted to the head of government for approval.
According to the paper, agencies and institutions in the Southeast Asian country are required to arrange their employees’ days off as per the designated schedule, while also maintaining operations to serve the nation and its’ people.
The Lunar New Year celebration, which is deeply rooted in the Vietnamese culture, includes a series of ceremonial preparations as well as festive exhibitions customarily lasting one week before and after that date.
The upcoming Lunar New Year’s Day is due on Saturday, January 28.
