VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Wednesday urged the US to recognize Vietnam as a market economy during his reception for U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sanchez.

PM Dung noted that the Vietnam-U.S. ties have advanced positively in all fields with the U.S. now being one of the leading trade parters and investors of the Southeast Asian country.

The Vietnamese Government always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for American businesses to do effective and long-term business in the country, the Vietnamese Government chief affirmed.

He also took the occasion to thank the U.S. for supporting Vietnam during the negotiation process for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

Mr. Francisco Sanchez said that American enterprises are interested in investment activities in Vietnam, especially in the area of infrastructure.

He revealed that a large number of U.S. leading corporations which specialize in infrastructure development have joined the delegation and hope to seek investment and cooperation opportunities in Vietnam.

The guest leader underscored that the U.S. Department of Commerce would continue to collaborate closely with respective ministries and agencies to fulfill the signed agreements between the two sides.

The same day, PM Dung also hosted a reception to U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sanchez who is leading a business delegation to Vietnam to seek for business opportunities.
