Dancing toy robot DiscoRobo will be officially on sale nationwide after being launched in a series of major markets in the world, like the US, EU, Australia, Brazil, and sold on Amazon.com.

It will be retailed at VND499,000 each, or some $23.5, 36.5 percent cheaper than the retail price of $37 currently offered by Amazon.com.

In the Vietnam market, Tosy will offer the DiscoRobo - Special Edition which comes with speakers. This speaker has been designed as a mini theater is both portable speaker MP3 player with high quality 2.0 sound.

Users can download music to the memory card in the speaker or connect the speaker to their mobile phones, smartphones and tablets to play the music for the robot to dance.

The high-tech toy robot, which can listen to the music and coordinate moves based on the beats, was listed among the most popular products launched in 2012 by the Popular Science Magazine, said the local producer Tosy Robotics Joint Stock Co.

The dancing robot is also able to perform 8 types of facial expression for each movement of the robot body.

Besides dancing to the beat of the music, it can also move with drum beats, music from the guitar, rhythm sound from clapping and footsteps, and lots of other sounds, said the producer.

The toy robot is the unique one in the world having the ability to listen to the music and dance with 56 different hops, said the Hanoi-based high-tech toy maker.

DiscoRobo producer is committed to use high quality plastic materials passing the strict safety and quality rules in many foreign markets for the toy so that it should be perfectly safe products for children.

On Amazon.com, there is a warning about choking hazard due to small parts, recommending that it is not for children under 3 years old.

DiscoRobo was first introduced at the Las Vegas-hosted 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the US in January this year.

It came along with mRobo, a higher-end product also made by the Hanoi-based toy manufacturer. It can dance to the music coming off from a loud speaker installed on its belly.

The robot can also move smoothly on their specials wheels that will also help them group themselves into pairs easily and harmoniously during their performances.

The Inquisitr, a US-based magazine, then published an article stating that mRobo was been placed in the top 10 most prominent technological trends in the 2013 CES.

The products received a number of 5-star customer reviews on Amazon.com. One customer said “DiscoRobo is a humanoid robot that can feel the beat of the music and dance along while changing facial expression”, while the other said “My kids loved it so much, I ordered another one in pink. We all enjoy dancing with Tosy the robot.”
