Indian industrial machinery makers have showed signs of more proactive moves in gaining a bigger share in the Vietnamese market for industrial machinery and equipment.
The sign has been seen with the participation of 85 companies in the mechanical engineering industry from the Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC) in the first-ever exhibition of Indian engineering products, INDEE Vietnam 2013.
For those companies, this was the first time they participate in such a large-scale event in Vietnam, though having participated in several exhibitions around the world, said Deepak Mittal, Indian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.
It was the 27th Edition of the trademark Indian engineering exhibition that has been organized by EEPC the over the years. However, it is the first time that an exhibition of this scale is being organized in Vietnam.
INDEE Vietnam, which showcased a wide range of products like machine tools, industrial pumps, automobile parts, agricultural equipment, and electrical machines, was a joint event held alongside with Metalex-Nepcon Vietnam 2013.
The expo was wrapped up on Saturday at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in HCMC’s District 7.
According to Mr. Mittal, total Indian foreign direct investment (FDI) capitals in Vietnam is increasing, reaching approximately $936 million through 86 active projects in the fields of oil and gas exploitation, mining and mineral processing, sugar production, and agricultural products.
As a result, Mr. Mittal believes that Indian companies operating in mechanical engineering industry will take more aggressive steps to boost cooperation and investment in their favorite business sectors to tap the existing potentials in the Vietnamese market.
The Vietnamese market for mechanical engineering products is estimated to be worth some hundreds of millions of US dollars due to the underdeveloped supporting industry.
