Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev affirmed on Tuesday that Moscow always backs Russian oil and gas companies in engaging in projects in Vietnam’s waters.
He said it in a telephone conversation with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Vietnam has always created favorable conditions for oil and gas firms from both countries to expand their cooperation, including in exploring and drilling, combined cycle power plants, liquefied natural gas, and motor fuel.
Both prime ministers appreciated the results of PM Phuc’s visit to Russia in May this year.
They were pleased with the dynamic development of the Vietnamese-Russian ties over the past time, with many high-level visits and meaningful activities, and with both sides actively cooperating in lifting barriers to bilateral trade.
They were particularly delighted at the ease of doing business in agro-produce and seafood thanks to a free trade agreement Vietnam signed with the Eurasian Economic Union, including Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, on May 29, 2015.
Prime Minister Phuc and Prime Minister Medvedev also discussed measures to spur the implementation of some important projects, including the establishment of a science and nuclear technology research center.
