His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, awarded over VND2.4 billion (US$113,500) scholarships named after him to four Vietnamese students at the campus of the British University Vietnam on Tuesday.

The awardees were Nguyen Duc Ha Trang, Nguyen Mai Chi, Nguyen Van Duong, and Ngo Hai Anh, who come from high schools in northern Vietnam’s Hanoi, Hai Duong Province, and Thai Binh Province.

Each of them received a certificate of the HRH Prince Andrew Scholarship Program 2013, managed by the university, which entitles them to more than VND600 million ($28,400) used to cover tuition for foundation and undergraduate courses at the school in addition to the travelling costs for attending the scholarship interview round.

The scholarship winners were selected on the basis of their academic performance, community work involvement, and potential to become leaders in the public sector, business and academia.

Prince Andrew also announced the same day the start of the HRH Prince Andrew Scholarship Program 2014.

Applications will start from September 30, 2013. Further information can be found at: www.buv.edu.vn/vi/tuyen-sinh/hoc-bong.

Launched by the Duke of York in October 2010, the scholarship program is open annually to all Vietnamese high school graduates.

This is the only full scholarship program for Vietnamese citizens to be run in the name of a British royal member.
