Retired teachers in Vietnam create ‘magic detergent’, get certified by US patent office

A group of retired teachers in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Nai have created a kind of “magic” detergent which automatically washes clothes and dishes without rubbing.

The group, including Truong Thi Diep, Huynh Kim Van and Bui Quang Hoi, members of Bien Hoa City’s Former Teacher Association, has recently been certified by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for their patent research on a kind of “magic” detergent which allows users to clean their clothes or dishes without rubbing.

Bien Hoa is the capital of Dong Nai, which is about 30km east of Ho Chi Minh City.

The creators said they have infused an additive into the production formula of the detergent, roughly translated from Vietnamese into English as “No-Wash Magic Detergent,” in order to liquefy the dirt stuck on items that need to be cleaned.

People only need to put dishes or clothes in the detergent for around 10 minutes and then rinse them with water without moving or rubbing the items, and everything will be clean.

The product is made following consumer health and environmental protection criteria.

It also helps people save time since all they need to do is leave dishes and clothes in the detergent and let it do its job.

Huynh Kim Van said the three, who have been friends for a long time, thought a lot about doing something helpful for society when they retire.

The group said they had seen housewives using detergent on a daily basis, but many kinds of detergents are harmful to people’s health and the environment.

“We created the ‘No-Wash Magic Detergent’ to prevent housewives from being harmed, to bring benefits and contribute to protecting the environment,” she said.

Bui Quang Hoi said they are sending their product to Dong Nai's Department of Science and Technology to compete in a provincial contest on scientific research.

“We want to transfer the technology to manufacturers to bring this ‘magic’ detergent to consumers at the lowest possible cost, as well as ensure users’ health and protect the environment.”
