The University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) in Ho Chi Minh City, one of Vietnam’s leading institutions in medical research and education, on Wednesday announced their first international journal.
The Journal of Medical Pharmaceutical Research, or MedPharmRes, is an international open-access peer-reviewed journal that delivers “cutting-edge” research in various aspects of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and other health sciences, according to an introduction available on the journal’s official site.
MedPharmRes had its inaugural issue in Q4 2017, and will be published at the frequency of four issues a year entirely in English, according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Diep Tuan, president of UMP.
“The journal represents a major step that UMP has undertaken to provide a stage for academics to spread, promote, and discuss their ideas and research,” Tuan said.
“We emphasize the accuracy of research methodology and high ethical standards,” he added.
According to Tuan, UMP will sponsor publication-related fees for all papers submitted until the end of this year, an effort to “allow academics from all backgrounds” to have their studies published in the journal.
“MedPharmRes will help Vietnam’s medical and pharmaceutical research community to present their studies to international peers, while improving our own researchers’ ability to write English-language research papers,” Tuan said.
The journal’s editorial board is composed of 33 published scholars from Vietnam, Canada, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Belgium and Nepal, who are headed by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Sao Trung from UMP.
Trung expects MesPharmRes to be indexed by the International Scientific Indexing (ISI) and PubMed within the next two or three years, with an impact factor of more than two.
