Sunday, May 05, 2013, 15:00 GMT+7

A cultural-tourism event, of which Khau Vai Love Market is the spotlight, has been opened in Meo Vac District in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang.

The annual Khau Vai Love Market, which is opened for people from many ethnic minority groups in the province to meet up and exchange, usually attracts a large number of both domestic and foreign visitors.

The weeklong event also features various activities including a show of traditional costumes of the ethnic minorities living in the province.

It also includes the fighting festivals of goat, cow and nightingale, a performance describing the rain worshipping ritual of the Lo Lo ethnic minority group, and an incense offering at the two temples in Khau Vai Commune.

Other folk fames, like the banh day (round cake) making contest of the Nung ethnic group and linen weaving competition of the Mong ethnic minority group, will also be held during the week.
