British musician and songwriter Fyfe Dangerfield, best known as the founder of “Guillemots”, a BRIT- Award nominated indie rock band, will perform in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi on May 26 and 28.
The two performances, which will also feature drummer Greg Stewart, are set to take place at the HCMC Music Conservatory, 112 Nguyen Du street, district 1, at 8pm on May 26, and at the Tuoi Tre Theater, 11 Ngo Thi Nham in Hanoi, at 8pm on May 28.
At the shows, Dangerfield and Stewart will perform the band’s selected works as well as songs composed by Dangerfield himself.
These are part of the activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam- UK diplomatic ties, and to mark the British Council’s 20 years of activity in Vietnam.
The two artists will also hold a workshop on music composition as independent artists with young local composers at the Soul Academy, 214-216 Pasteur street, district 3, HCMC, at 10am on May 25.
Dangerfield will also meet with local traditional musicians at the Tuoi Tre Theater at 3pm on May 28 for his project to introduce the Vietnamese traditional music instruments in his next album.
As a soloist, he released an album called “Fly Yellow Moon” in 2010. The album's first track "When You Walk in the Room" was the single of the week on iTunes in the week starting March 15, 2010.
A TV commercial for the British chain store John Lewis, first broadcast in April 2010, features Dangerfield singing the Billy Joel song “She's Always a Woman”.
