The Performing Arts Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism has recently approved Miss Sport Vietnam 2012 Lai Huong Thao to officially represent Vietnam at this year’s Miss World.

The Vietnamese beauty will be in Indonesia from September 3, announced Elite Vietnam, the unit that holds the right to send Vietnamese contestants to international pageants.

Thao’s photos and profile information have been posted on the competition’s official website at http://www.missworld.com/Contestants/Vietnam/.

Born in 1991 in the northern province of Quang Ninh, Thao, 20, is 1.7m tall and measures 89-61-91. She’s currently a student of Hong Bang University.

Last year, she won her Miss Sport Vietnam title at the contest held in Da Nang city. She later attended the 2012 Miss Supranational beauty pageant and won the Miss Asia & Oceania continental title as well as the Miss St. George Hospitality award.

Formed in 1951 in the United Kingdom, Miss World is one of the four largest and most famous female beauty pageants in the world, including Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth.

This year, Miss World has attracted 128 beauties over the world and will conclude on September 27.

In 2004, Nguyen Thi Huyen entered Top 15, the highest position of Vietnamese contestants so far. Last year, Vu Hoang My represented Vietnam at the beauty pageant and entered the Top 40 Beach Beauty round but failed to make it to the top 15 finalists.
