An exhibition featuring valuable Vietnamese folk paintings will be held in Hanoi next week.
Titled “Vietnamese folk painting – Trio painting sets,” the event will showcase 15 paintings selected from Henri Oger’s “Technical Encyclopedia” and Maurice Durand’s “Folk paintings,” both studies done in the first half of the 20th century in northern Vietnam. It will also feature unpublished wood carvings of the Luc Van Tien colored paintings dating back to the late 19th century.
According to organizers, the exhibition, held by The French Development Agency and the French Academy of the Far East, aims to focus on aesthetic value, the promotion of Vietnamese folk culture, and the conservation of written material heritage.
Within the framework of the exhibition, seminars led by well-known scholars of the topic will also be held.
“Vietnamese folk painting – Trio painting sets” will take place from 5pm on January 13 until February 28 at L’Espace at 24 Trang Tien Street.
The same exhibition was held in Ho Chi Minh City last February.
