The second annual ASEAN Music Fest will be held in Hanoi late this month by the United States Embassy in the capital city and CAMA Vietnam.
Themed “ASEAN PRIDE > Celebrating Diversity,” the event aims to promote the cultural vibrancy of nations in Southeast Asia, as well as to raise ASEAN PRIDE awareness.
According to the organizers, the United States is dedicated to eliminating barriers to equality, ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and engaging lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities.
The U.S. is committed to working towards creating the brightest future for individuals and a vision which includes equality for the LGBT community.
The event will see performances of bands from the ASEAN region, including Protocol Afro from Indonesia, Big Bag from Myanmar, Pinholes from Singapore, and Stylish Nonsense from Thailand. Art and community groups in and around Hanoi will also join to cheer up the festival.
It will also feature food, beverage and a creative arts market run by the Hanoi Flea Market, a section for artists, and a children's play area.
ASEAN Music Fest will run from 1:00 pm until midnight on May 24 at the American Club at 19-21 Hai Ba Trung Street in Hoan Kiem District.
Entrance is free for ASEAN nationals. For everyone else, a limited number of advance tickets priced at VND 320,000 (US$15.09) are available at CAMA at 73A Mai Hac De Street in Hai Ba Trung District or via ticketbox.vn.
Tickets at the gate will be VND400,000 ($18.87).
Last year, the event titled “Artwork is Work” took place in Hanoi. It was to highlight respect for artists in Asia via Intellectual Property Rights besides promoting regional countries’ cultures.
