The Netherlands-based International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) is calling for online photo submissions for its contest under the theme of Asian beauty.

Titled “IIAS Photo Contest 2014: Picturing Asia,” the competition is held on the occasion of 20 years of the establishment of the IIAS, offering participants the chance to have photos published in the institution’s academic publication The Newsletter in addition to awards.

“We would like to give you the opportunity to tell a visual story, to explore photography’s capacity for communication, to capture the unexpected, and to share with us the world you live in,” the organizers said on the contest’s website.

The contest covers a wide range of categories, namely Asian Cities, Global Asia, Asian Heritages, Asia’s Pop Culture, Everyday Life in Asia, and Asia by Mobile.

The jury will select the winner of each of the six categories, and all winners are scheduled to be announced on September 1. Each prize will be a gift voucher for the amount of 200 euros. Prizes will be transferred to each winner by post or email.

Interested candidates have to register at http://contest.iias.asia/ to upload up to 5 of their photos by June 30 to attend.

All digital files must be 20 megabytes or smaller, in JPEG or JPG formats, and at least 1,600 pixels wide or 1,200 pixels tall.
