A 19-year-old Korean guitarist will come back to Vietnam for his performances in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City late next week, newswire Vietnamplus reported Thursday.
Sung-ha Jung, a guitar prodigy from South Korea, will perform in a concert on April 18 at the Youth Theater in the capital city and on April 19 at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
The guitarist, who gave a performance in Vietnam last year, wins the hearts of the audience thanks to his talented fingers and the ability to play various types of songs.
He is renowned for his fingerstyle techniques, in which the artist plucks the strings with fingertips, nails, and finger picks instead of hitting individual notes with a plectrum.
The youngster, who started playing the guitar proficiently at the age of five, has been known in Vietnam for the last 10 years owing to his videos on YouTube. He is also the first-ever foreign guitar soloist who has performed in the Southeast Asian country so far.
The 19-year-old star’s YouTube channel has had more than three million subscribers as of April this year, in which his cover of “Pirates of the Caribbean” has collected over 45 million views, Vietnamplus reported.
Sung-ha Jung has also composed his own music in different styles and released six albums so far. He has been invited to collaborate with famous artists and has toured many countries in the world.
His first album, “Perfect Blue,” was released in 2010 and his latest one, “Monologue,” was unveiled in April last year.
The guitarist’s 2015 tour in Vietnam will be supported by the country’s Fingerstyle Guitar Organization, a playground for guitar lovers which has thousands of members nationwide.
