The “Vietnamese Cultural Days” fest will be held in the U.S. next month, featuring numerous activities which highlight the Southeast Asian country’s long-standing culture and lifestyle, the organizers said Tuesday in a press conference.

The event, which will take place from August 8 to 12 in Washington, D.C. and New York City, aims at celebrating the 20th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the U.S. (1995 - 2015).

It will be jointly organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; the Vietnamese Embassy in the U.S.; and the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations.

The highlights of the “Vietnamese Cultural Days” will be three artistic programs, which will be held on August 8 at the Terrace Theater in Washington and on August 10 and 11 at the Millennium Stage in that capital, introducing typical cultural characteristics of different regions and ethnic minority groups of Vietnam, as well as the country’s special musical instrument and traditional clothes.

There will be a fashion show on August 9 at the Millennium Stage, featuring many collections of famed Vietnamese designers, including Minh Hanh, Lan Huong, Quang Nhat and Chula.

The costumes displayed at the fashion show will be a harmonious combination between jeans, popular material for clothes, and silk and brocade, often used in many Vietnamese clothes.

Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh is expected to attend the five-day event to boost cultural exchange between the two countries.
