A Hong Kong-made luxury cruise ship scheduled to make weekly visits to the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang might be a golden opportunity for the city’s local tourism development.
The cruise ship Genting Dream operated by Hong Kong’s Dream Cruises is set for weekly visits to the central hub, said Ngo Quang Vinh, director of the municipal Department of Tourism, following the vessel’s first appearance at Tien Sa Seaport in Da Nang on Thursday afternoon.
A welcome ceremony was organized and attended by leaders of the city’s administration and representatives from businesses and travel agencys across Vietnam.
“Visits made by the foreign ship will contribute to the attraction international travelers and development of high- quality tourist services in the city,” Director Vinh stated.
“Opportunities to promote the beauty of Da Nang will be multiplied thanks to the large number of tourists brought in by such a large-scale cruise ship,” the Vietnamese official continued.

The Genting Dream will dock in Da Nang for one day before heading back to Hong Kong for the conclusion of its journey on November 13.
According to the municipal Department of Tourism, cruise ships account for a large and significant portion of visitors to the central hub.
The city has welcomed over 81,000 tourists from 58 cruise ships since the beginning of this year, up 3.6 percent year-on-year, the department added.
Dream Cruises is the first-ever Asian luxury cruise line that aims to redefine vacation travel with a transformational journey at sea, the firm says on its official website.
Debuting in November with a capacity of 3,400 tourists, the Genting Dream is set to bring its guests to exciting destinations in Vietnam, including Ha Long Bay and Da Nang.
