A great number of tourists have traveled to a vast field of blossoming yellow winter cresses in the countryside of a province in Vietnam to savor the first-time flower feast here.

In these days, many scenery enthusiasts are flocking to a field of winter cresses in Tho Hai Commune, Tho Xuan District, Thanh Hoa Province which is located in the north-central region.

They come here to enjoy the visual pleasure of the blossoming yellow flowers and take beautiful photos.

Over the weekend the spot fascinates hundreds of visitors.

Among them are many of young people, according to Phan Thanh Dung, who is secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union chapter in the district.

Some tourists overcome enormous distances to get here, Le Thu Thao, for instance, has traveled more than twenty four miles with her peers from her urban hometown for a tour around the land.

Tourism has been better organized since the field of winter cresses began to be accessible to the public right at the beginning of this year, when the plants were first in full bloom.

Each adult is supposed to pay VND10,000 (US$0.5) to have a sight-seeing tour, while the parking lot, food and beverages are provided by local residents and members from the youth union who take care of the flowers on a regular basis.

The field was converted from an arable seventeen-acre piece of land that stayed idle during the winter months.

In November last year, the youth union joined hands with the local agricultural cooperative that manages the land.

The cooperation aimed at tapping into this resource in order to draw more people to the historical relics and sights of the scenic beauty in the district.

Together they worked the field, sowed winter cress seeds, scattered fertilizers and sprayed pesticide on it.

Proceeds from the entrance fee are used to pay for the expenses on seeds and the substances.

By next year, probably even more enticing fields will grow in Thanh Hoa Province, as new white and yellow winter cresses are planned to emerge nearer to the region’s places of attraction.
