The Hanoi administration plans to mark Vietnam’s Lunar New Year celebration in mid-February with a number of fireworks displays.

The Lunar New Year, also known as Tet, constitutes the most important traditional national holiday in Vietnam, with millions of people across the country celebrating the holiday for nearly two weeks.

Fifteen-minute-long firework shows honoring the holiday are scheduled for midnight at 30 locations throughout Hanoi on Lunar New Year’s Eve, February 15.

The city administration’s aim for the shows was for residents throughout the city’s districts to have the opportunity to enjoy Vietnam’s most festive celebration.

Each display will be custom prepared for specific districts and neighborhoods.  At commercial centers, stadiums, and parks in Hanoi, the firing boards are set to launch fireworks that burst at low heights. 

Meanwhile, high-range fireworks will be used at shows near Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Khanh Lake, Hoang Cau Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, Thanh Tich Park, Harmony Lake and the Son Tay Citadel.

The city expects to use a combined 4,700 mortar tubes for its various shows.

Music and art performances also planned to accompany each show.
