The entire walking area around Hoan Kiem Lake, a famous place of attraction in Hanoi, is expected to receive a facelift on its surface with a stronger type of material.

Duong Duc Tuan, chairman of the People’s Committee in Hoan Kiem District, confirmed the information on Saturday.

The path skirting the lake is likely to be repaved with granite stones about 10 centimeters thick transferred from Binh Dinh Province.

The reason for the transformation is that visual and quality inharmoniousness rules in the path because as many as 20 types of brick and rock cover it, according to Pham Tuan Long, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee.

He added that the authorities of Hoan Kiem District and Hanoi have made thorough preparations in selecting the suitable material and paving techniques in order to ensure economical use and quality of the new path.

The decision on the makeover has received approval from relevant governmental bodies.

It also constitutes part of the project of landscaping the area surrounding Hoan Kiem Lake, and the Hoan Kiem District government is canvassing its local residents for their views on the plan.

Transparency in spending on the paving will be ensured, officials said.
