An exhibition showcasing nearly 1,000 international artworks is running in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang from April 24 to May 2.

The 9th International Photo Art Exhibition, organized by the Da Nang Art Photography Association, in collaboration with the Da Nang Museum, presents such a huge collection of photographs in four main sections, Portrait, Landscape, Daily Life, and Open.

The photos bring the audience panoramic views of people and life in the lands that the artists left their footprints on and were inspired to capture.

The exhibition is the result of the International Artistic Photo Contest held twice a year by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA), with the sponsorship of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).

Entries by Vietnamese winners, including The red sail by Nguyen Dang De, My mother by Nong Thanh Toan, Dawn on the Silver Rock by Truong Vuong, Women workers by Than Nguyen, The Wonderful Truong Sa (Spratly Islands) by Nguyen A, are also on display at the event.

Among the contest participants, 88 were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as honor recognitions of VAPA and FIAP.

Alla Sokolova from France won the FIAP gold medal with his work, The Relationship, whereas Hongyun Guo of China bagged the VAPA silver medal with Under aurora.

Members of the Da Nang Artistic Photography Association snatched one second prize and two honor prizes, by local photographers Nguyen Quang, Than Nguyen and Huynh Van Truyen.

“Although I do not know much about photography, I feel the displayed photos are rich in content and express soulful meanings,” Nguyen Duy Mao, a Da Nang resident, shared with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
