Hundreds of brightly colored kites in all shapes and sizes are seen hovering over the Thanh Da peninsula in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon over the last few days.
The kite field lies next to the embankment along the Saigon River next to Thanh Da wharf.
As summer approaches, many parents choose this area as an ideal place for their children to play kite flying.
The area, whose windy open air is suitable for kite flying, easily turns into a childhood playground where hundreds of kites hover above every afternoon.
The sky adorned with colorful kites depicts a poetry image of pure childhood in the middle of bustling streets.
Infatuated with kites, some kids do not want to follow their parents home even when it is dusk.
Kite flying is not a game merely for children. Many young people also enjoy this hobby to relive past childhood memories.
"It is unbelievable that there is such a space full of kites in Saigon, just like those in the countryside,” Nguyen Tuyet Loan, student of the local Hutech University, said.
“When you run the kite, all those seemingly forgotten childhood memories suddenly come back to your mind.”
