A Turkish photographer has shared her National Geographic-featured works capturing the fascinating beauty of Vietnam with Tuoi Tre News

Two years after Istanbul-based Nese Ari’s visit to Vietnam, she is still eager to talk about the “fascinating” experiences of her north-to-south journey.

“Vietnam was always a country I’ve considered important and have wanted to see,” she said in an email to Tuoi Tre News.

In mid-2016, Ari and a group of friends visited Vietnam, where they “took amazing photos for 16 days from north to south.”

“I was fascinated,” she recalled.

“The Vietnamese were very friendly and helpful,” she added. “I want to be able to return to the country for a second time.”

A member of Your Shot, NatGeo’s photography community, Ari regularly posts her photos from Vietnam and often receives positive feedback from other members.

On August 10 last year, her photo capturing three Vietnamese women making fishing nets was published on National Geographic’s Daily Dozen – a list featuring the editors’ 12 favorite photos uploaded to Your Shot.

“I had to walk up the stairs so that I could take photos of the women. They knew that I was there. Despite being busy with their work, they were very nice and even helped me by sitting in a place with great light,” she shared.

“Everything a photographer wants was there - traditional, colorfully dressed women and the fabulous texture and colors of the nets,” Ari added.

Some of Ari’s Vietnam photos have also appeared in the UK’s The Daily Telegraph and France’s Geo Voir Le Monde Autrement.

Her Instagram also features numerous photos of Vietnam.

Though her photos have earned her much acclaim, photography is not Ari’s main profession. In fact, she has only been doing it for seven years.

The 38-year-old also works as a finance manager for an international import and export company in Istanbul.

“I believe that photographs are a means to communicate with people. Every photograph is a big story of a life,” Ari said.

“It’s the photographer’s duty to reflect these stories in the simplest and most esthetic way,” she explained.
