Vietnam and Russia have agreed to foster bilateral ties in various fields at their 7th strategic dialogue on diplomacy, national defense and security held in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.
>> Vietnam, Russia pledge to conclude FTA talks in early 2015 At the event, which was co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son and his Russian counterpart Igor V. Morgulov, both sides discussed measured to step up the bilateral relations and exchanged opinions on regional and international issues of mutual concern, the Vietnam News Agency reported. They agreed that regular high-level contacts and dialogues have contributed to enhancing mutual trust and creating firm foundation for cooperation in other fields between Vietnam and Russia. Both host and guest pledged to strengthen cooperation in trade as well as national defense and security, and military technologies. The two officials affirmed that the two countries will continue to coordinate closely and effectively at international forums, especially the United Nations and other regional organizations. On the same day, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan received Russian Deputy FM Igor V. Morgulov. At the reception, Quan suggested that the two sides accelerate the signing of a cooperative agreement between the city and Moscow.
