Besides handling different views on a number of laws, the National Assembly (NA)’s Standing Committee will consider an investment and construction plan for the Long Thanh international airport project at its upcoming meeting.
>> Vietnam nearly completes preparations for 132nd General Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union The committee will convene its 35th session in Hanoi on February 25, and the function will last for three days, according to the Vietnam News Agency. During the event, the committee will consider and tackle differing views on a number of laws, including the Law on Natural Resources, Maritime Environment and Islands; the revised Law on State budget; and the Law on the Election of Deputies to the National Assembly and local People’s Councils.
Committee members will also give comments on an investment and construction plan for the Long Thanh international airport project in the southern province of Dong Nai. At an NA meeting on November 14, 2014, many Vietnamese National Assembly deputies approved of the project to build a new airport in Dong Nai to ease pressure on Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. The building of a modern international airport is necessary to meet the growing demand of aviation transport, contributing to national development and defense and security, many deputies said at that meeting. More than a month ago, at its 34th session opened on January 19, the committee examined and reviewed preparations for the upcoming 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132), which will take place in Hanoi from March 28 to April 1. It is expected that more than 1,300 delegates from 160 countries and territories will come to Vietnam for the IPU-132, according to the committee.
