Hanoi has always supported Laos’s reform efforts and believed in the leadership of the Lao Party, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phuc Trong said Monday.

General Secretary Trong made the statement as he welcomed the visiting delegation of high-ranking Laotian officials led by Vice President Phankham Viphavanh, under the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, according to the Vietnam News Agency .

The Vietnamese Party chief considered the visit of Vice President Viphavanh as of great significance to the enhancement of the two nations’ traditional relationship and comprehensive cooperation.

He stated that Vietnam strongly and comprehensively supported Laos’s renovation, expressing his belief that the country would achieve further success under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

Trong praised the outcomes of the talks between the two countries’ high-level delegations and suggested the two sides enhance coordination to carry out the agreements reached by the two Parties and States.

Further exchanges regarding Party building and socio-economic management should be conducted to strengthen the Vietnam-Laos bilateral cooperation in politics, defense and security, economic development, culture, education, and science-technology, he said.

The visiting Laotian Vice President expressed his joy at the increasingly special relationship between the two nations’ relationship before extending his appreciation for the considerable and prompt assistance of Vietnam.

Laos will tighten its coordination with Vietnam to nurture the special rapport between the two and elevate it to a new height in the interests of the two peoples, Vice President Viphavanh asserted.

He also congratulated Vietnam on the recent accomplishments of the Vietnamese Party, state, and people, believing that the new Party Resolution would be effectively executed.

The two parties pledged to cement their collaboration in multilateral forums regarding regional and international issues, contributing to the preservation of peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the world.

Prior to the meeting with the Vietnamese Party chief, President Viphavanh met with Deputy State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
