Mexico City is willing to establish cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City in multiple fields, according to Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera.
A delegation of high-ranking officials from Ho Chi Minh City, led by Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, paid a visit to the Mexican capital on Tuesday, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Speaking with guests, Mayor Mancera affirmed that Mexico City was keen to collaborate with the southern Vietnamese city in a wide range of fields, particularly healthcare, technology innovation, and tourism.
It is necessary for the two cities to exchange their experience in socio-economic development, urban management, environmental protection, and cultural preservation, the Mexican official said.
He also praised the active and comprehensive development of Ho Chi Minh City and hoped that collaboration between the two parties would benefit the interests of the two peoples.
Replying to her host, Chairwoman Tam listed the advantages of collaboration in economic matters, culture, history, and sustainable development policies for both cities, which create strong foundations for a long-term partnership.
She also invited Mayor Mancera to visit Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City to enhance understanding and collaboration between Mexico and the Southeast Asian nation.
Tam and the Ho Chi Minh City delegation also worked with leaders of local agencies on the same day, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
She paid a visit to the Embassy of Vietnam in Mexico and stopped by several historic and cultural sites in the city.
Following the official visit scheduled for September 20 to 24, the Vietnamese delegation will depart Mexico for Cuba.
