Philippine president Duterte to visit Vietnam this month

Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte is slated to pay an official visit to Vietnam from September 28 to 29 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Tran Dai Quang, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This will be President Duterte’s first visit to Vietnam and the fourth call on a foreign country as the chief the Phillippine government.

The event is expected to mark a significant milestone in the foreign affairs of the two nations in this year.

President Duterte accepted the invitation when meeting Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Laos in early September.
