Cambodian premier strengthens ties with Ho Chi Minh City

Cambodian Minister Hun Sen paid a trip to Ho Chi Minh City to cement ties between Cambodia and the Vietnamese metropolis during his visit to Vietnam on December 20 and 21.
PM Sen was welcomed to the southern hub on Wednesday afternoon by Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh La Thang, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
During the meeting, the Cambodian head of government noted that his home country has always attached importance to strengthening its cooperation and friendship with Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.
The visiting leader expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese city for supporting Phnom Penh and other Cambodian localities.
Both Parties, governments, and peoples share a special trust and friendship to push forward their cooperation and stand against opposing forces, PM Hun Sen reiterated.
Replying to his guest, Thang described the Cambodian premier’s visit to Vietnam as a demonstration of the two nations’ friendliness and a chance to expand bilateral partnerships, including collaboration between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia.
The Vietnamese city treasures its ties with Cambodia and pledges to exert all efforts to nurture solidarity and friendship with Cambodian localities, the Party chief stated.
He asked PM Hun Sen to continue providing favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses, including those from Ho Chi Minh City, to operate in the fields of investment and trade, culture, and tourism, thus strengthening bilateral connections.
Following his talks with the city leader, the Cambodian premier visited the 7th Military Region of the Vietnam People's Army, whose command headquarters is in Ho Chi Minh City.
The PM was greeted by Vietnam’s Minister of National Defense Ngo Xuan Lich and chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong.
On the 72nd founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944), PM Hun Sen expressed his hope that the army will continue to develop, fulfill the task of protecting the nation, and effectively contribute to Vietnam’s socio-economic development.
Earlier the same day, the premier paid tribute to the relic site of Division 125, the predecessor of Cambodia’s united armed forces for national salvation, in the southern province of Dong Nai.
