Prime Minister Chinh arrived in Nanning on Saturday morning to attend the 20th China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) slated for September 16 to 17.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of these events, PM Chinh proposed China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) bolster import and export activities to make the latter China’s first trade partner with two-way trade exceeding $1 trillion.

The two sides should quickly finalize negotiations over the upgrading of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area agreement, and expand the pilot program of smart border gates to ramp up trade, he said.
