Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam will attend the 28th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and pay an official visit to Turkey from November 29 to December 3, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his trip to the UAE at the invitation of the UAE government, Prime Minister Chinh will engage in multiple bilateral activities.

This will be his first Turkey visit, which is set to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Turkey.

Two-way trade totaled US$1.65 billion in 2022.

At a ceremony to celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations in October, the leaders of Vietnam and Turkey affirmed that the two nations were working closely to raise bilateral trade to $4 billion in the coming time.

As of May, Turkey had got involved in 34 projects in Vietnam, with a total pledged capital of $974.3 million, especially the Hayat Kimya factory project in Binh Duong Province, ranking the former 26th among 143 countries investing in the Southeast Asian nation.

PM Chinh had previously sat in on the COP26 in the United Kingdom in 2021.

During the COP26 climate summit, the Vietnamese government leader spread a message of efforts in response to climate change to some 120 leaders of other countries.

The prime minister underscored that though Vietnam is just a developing nation, its potential for renewable energy is huge.

Vietnam is stepping up efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, and cooperating with many partners to beef up technology transfer to achieve its commitment of net zero emissions by 2050.
