Vietnam's all-powerful Politburo on Friday issued a disciplinary warning against former Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc for violations in office.

The Politburo also imposed a warning on former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and reprimanded Truong Thi Mai, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee.

The Politburo convened a meeting the same day to consider disciplinary measures against senior Party members for violations and shortcomings.

After considering a proposal from the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, the Politburo concluded that Phuc, while serving as a Politburo member, Secretary of the government’s Board for Party Civil Affairs, and Prime Minister, violated the Party and state’s regulations in performing his duties and assigned tasks, as well as in the fight against corruption and negative behaviors.

He also breached certain prohibitions on the actions of Party members and flouted regulations related to setting an example in office.

His actions caused serious consequences, stirred public outrage, and affected the reputation of the Party and state.

While serving as Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the government’s Board for Party Civil Affairs, and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Binh was found to lack responsibility in leadership and direction, violate the Party and state's regulations in performing his duties and assigned tasks, and in the fight against corruption and negative behaviors.

He also violated the rules prohibiting certain actions by Party members and failed to uphold the responsibility of setting a good example. This led to serious consequences, public backlash, and harm to the reputation of the Party and the state.

During her tenure as a Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization, Mai violated Party and state regulations while carrying out her duties and responsibilities.

She breached rules on power control in personnel matters, engaged in actions prohibited for Party members, and failed to uphold the obligation to set a good example.

Her actions caused serious consequences and affected the reputation of the Party and the state.

Given the violations committed by the above-mentioned Party members, the Politburo decided to issue warnings against Phuc and Binh, and a reprimand against Mai.

The Politburo instructed relevant agencies to promptly and consistently impose administrative disciplinary actions in line with the Party's disciplinary measures.
