-- A delegation of Party, State, NA, Government, and VFF leaders on Saturday paid floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum on the occasion of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2.

-- Vietnam fully supported initiatives aimed at strengthening global governance as underlined by the theme of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit, said Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh at the closing session of the summit in Tehran, Iran, on August 31.

-- Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan on August 31 visited several medical and pharmaceutical establishment in Basel city, Switzerland to share experience in training and seek opportunities for cooperation.


-- Investigative police in Hanoi’s Dong Anh district have detained four local policemen over charges of “deliberately causing injuries” after they are accused of beating a man to death at police station while questioning him, Hanoi police announced on Saturday.

-- Vietnam's top female sprinter Truong Thanh Hang, who won a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships’ women’s 800m eventin 2011, had her right leg broken in a traffic accident while she was practicing running along Nguyen Tan Thanh coastal street in Da Nang central city on August 31. She is being treated in Da Nang General Hospital.

-- Four people were killed in two traffic crashes involving motorcycles and trucks in Nha Trang city and Quang Tri in central region on September 1.  


-- Blind guitarist Van Vuong was presented the Grand Prize at the "Bui Xuan Phai – Love for Hanoi" awards on August 31 for his lifelong dedication to the capital and the music he has created that describes the city's beauty.
